I want to first apologize for the circumstances which require a public response. Recently (before ReformCon) I got word that a man was taking steps to write a hit-piece on Apologia Church. He had attempted to contact at least 2 of my speakers (Dr. James White and LEAH). He DID NOT attempt to reach out to me or any leaders. Based upon the line of questioning they were getting, it was clear to me, this man was in the beginning stages of posting an article attempting to malign Apologia Church.
Let me make this abundantly clear: this man DID NOT contact me. As a matter of fact, I had to do some looking and asking around to find him. Then, it was me who contacted him. I initiated contact and had hoped to be able to answer his questions and perhaps guard him from making errors in any “reporting” he had planned to do. He (nor anyone affiliated with him) never initiated contact with me to verify any of their claims. It was Apologia Church who had to seek him out after getting word that he was about to post an article attempting to malign us. It was clear in our interaction (as you will see) that this man does not like Apologia Church and has theological disagreements. Therefore, apparently, a hit-piece was in order.
Again, I’m extremely sorry that both my current busy ministry schedule and your day has been assaulted with the circumstances surrounding this deception. After reading a couple of “Christian News” articles (now the story is Marcus Pittman is leader of Apologia Church and we held a Bible, beer, and tattoo conference. Seriously.) and after reading some rather deceptive comments made by the man in question (giving the impression that he had some sort of investigative interaction with me. Reminder: He did not attempt to initiate contact with us) and after listening to Dr. White’s defense of us this morning, I think it would be appropriate to release my private conversation with this man.
Again, I am very sorry that this is even necessary. Sin has consequences. I often ignore the common Internet Thugs and Trolls. Seeing as this man’s sin has been picked up and expanded on by others, I feel this (alongside Dr. White’s article and radio program) is appropriate.
I have to get back to our mission in Hawaii. This will not occupy anymore time as a distraction of the work we are doing. I leave it to the reader to see for themselves. One word: God’s Word teaches us to always listen to both sides (Proverbs 18:17). I believe that the following will provide reason why.
Back to work. Soli Deo Gloria!
